The implementation of the SDGs will require the best minds, resources and innovations from all sectors and with all parts of society embracing them. This side event will explore how the global science community is endeavouring to play its part and engage with the SDGs, through the lens of national merit-based academies of science in the region. The session will discuss how the science-policy interface might be strengthened in the region.
13.00 – 13.30 Short presentations by:
- Professor Juan Asenjo, Co-Chair of the InterAmerican Network of Academies of Science (IANAS) and President of the Chilean Academy of Sciences
- Dr. Teresa Stoepler, Executive Director of IAP-Research; and Member of the Global Young Academy Professor
- Alex Godoy-Faúndez, Director, Sustainability Research Centre & Strategic Resource Management, Universidad del Desarrollo; and Member of the Global Young Academy.
