Biography
Bibiana Aido Almagro has served as the Regional Director of UN Women for the Americas and the Caribbean since September 2025. Previously, she was the UN Women Representative in Colombia and held various positions within the organization, including Country Representative in Ecuador, Programme Advisor for the Americas and the Caribbean, and Special Advisor to the Executive Director in New York. She also served as Sherpa for CSW66 and CSW67.
Before joining UN Women, she was the first Minister of Equality of the Government of Spain and later Secretary of State for Equality.
She holds a PhD and a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Management from the University of Cádiz. She has received several recognitions for her contributions to gender equality and women’s rights, including an Honorary Doctorate from Northumbria University.
