Biografía

Benito Wheatley is the Special Envoy of the Premier of the British Virgin Islands and directly represents the Government on behalf of the Premier in matters concerning the Caribbean, Americas, United Kingdom (UK), United Nations (UN) system, regional cooperation, sustainable development and climate change.  He also serves as the British Virgin Islands’ representative to the UN in Latin America and the Caribbean; CARICOM Ambassador; OECS Commissioner; and Representative to the Association of Caribbean States (ACS). He is also the Senior Government Advisor on International Relations and represents the British Virgin Islands in various international forums and leads engagement between the Government and the UN system, and between the Government and regional and international partners. Benito previously served as British Virgin Islands Representative to the UK and European Union (EU). He holds a Master of Science degree in Diplomacy and International Strategy from the London School of Economics and Political Science and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Morehouse College. He is also a Policy Fellow at the Centre for Science and Policy (CSaP) at the University of Cambridge and a member of the prestigious International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS).
