The Eighth Meeting of the Forum of Latin American and Caribbean Countries on Sustainable Development will be held at the headquarters of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) in Santiago, Chile, from 31 March to 4 April 2025, under the chairship of Peru. The objective of the meeting is to assess the progress and challenges in achieving the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in the region.

Marking ten years since the historic adoption of the 2030 Agenda, this edition of the Forum will include a series of global, regional, and national action dialogues.

In the Global Action Dialogues (1 April) High-ranking officials from the United Nations and governments, along with civil society and other key stakeholders, will discuss global commitments emerging from the Fourth International Conference on Financing for Development (Seville, Spain, 2025), the Second World Summit on Social Development (Qatar, 2025), and the thirtieth session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 30) of the UNFCCC (Belém do Pará, Brazil, 2025). Additionally, there will be a session on the 30th anniversary of the Fourth World Conference on Women and the adoption of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action (1995), as well as a session to follow up on the Pact for the Future and its annexes, approved at the Summit of the Future (September 2024).

The Regional Action Dialogues (2 April) will begin with the presentation of the Eighth Report on Regional Progress and Challenges in Relation to the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, delivered by José Manuel Salazar-Xirinachs, Executive Secretary of ECLAC. The first will focus on successful national experiences in accelerating SDG achievement, while the second will highlight best practices and challenges in preparing the voluntary national reviews (VNRs), which countries present at the United Nations High-Level Political Forum (HLPF) in New York.

The global, regional, and national dialogues will feature high-level representatives from the governments of 33 countries in the region, along with agencies, funds, and programmes from the United Nations system, Resident Coordinators, international financial institutions, development banks, regional and subregional integration organizations, civil society, parliamentarians, academia, and the private sector—both from Latin America and the Caribbean and other regions of the world.
