The publication “The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Regional Gender Agenda in Latin America and the Caribbean: gender indicators up to 2023” shows a description of the current situation of progress towards gender equality based on the gender indicators for monitoring the SDGs and the set of prioritized indicators for monitoring the SDGs in the region. It was carried out jointly by ECLAC and UN-Women and combines the monitoring of the intergovernmental commitments of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Regional Gender Agenda.
The purpose of the publication is to provide the region with a reference document to promote decision-making that will accelerate the achievement of equality and the full realization of the rights of women, adolescents and girls in all their diversity. In addition, it is a reference document for the 68th session of the Commission on the Status of Women, whose priority theme is "Accelerating the achievement of gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls by addressing poverty and strengthening institutions and financing with a gender perspective”.

Objectives: 

  • To present the publication "The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Regional Gender Agenda in Latin America and the Caribbean: gender indicators up to 2023", jointly prepared by UN Women and ECLAC and exchange on the main findings and challenges facing the region in terms of gender equality.
  • To foster a space for comments and reflections among representatives of national statistical offices, machineries for the advancement of women and other participants regarding the achievements, challenges and potential of the generation and dissemination of SDG monitoring indicators with a gender perspective.
