Biography
Ecuadorian economist graduated from the Pontificia Universidad Católica, with a Master's degree in Public Sector Economics from the University of York (United Kingdom), and postgraduate studies in Environmental Economics at FLACSO-Ecuador.
Before becoming Resident Coordinator in Costa Rica, he held several positions in different agencies of the United Nations System at the international level: UNFPA Representative in Bolivia (2024-2026), UNFPA Representative in Guatemala (2020-2024), Regional Advisor on Population and Development Affairs of the Regional Office of the United Nations Population Fund for Latin America and the Caribbean and co-coordinator of the Data Group of the United Nations Sustainable Development Group for Latin America and the Caribbean (2014-2020), and UNDP International Expert in Honduras (2009-2012).
In addition, he was a national and international consultant for several agencies of the United Nations System and Multilateral Development Banks, and a public official in the Ecuadorian Government in management positions in the Ministries of Finance and Public Credit, Social Welfare, Transport and Public Works, Secretariat of Planning, and Technical Secretariat of the Social Cabinet, between 1997 and 2008. He also served as a professor at FLACSO Ecuador and the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de Honduras.
